Youth Center Division
Under the Youth Centre Division, Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, thirteen youth centers has been established in Bhutan to address the emerging issues of youth in transition from tradition society to the fast changing modern Bhutan. The centers support opportunities for youth to develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities and to experience achievements, leadership, friendship, and recognition. The centers are now increasingly becoming an important source of recreation, information, and education for young people of Bhutan. The centers are intended primarily for use by youth aged 13 to 24.
- A positive safe and conductive environment for our young people that is free from alcohol and drugs.
- Recreational and social activities, programmes and projects that meet and cater to the needs of our young people.
- Access to information on youth related issues like positive self development, job opportunities and health.
- Access to counseling and referrals for young people and their families requiring such supports.
To support young people transitioning from adolescence to adulthood to help themselves achieve their potential as empowered individual through providing a safe, educative and conducive environment.
YOUTH CENTER AT HARMONY, THE CENTENARY YOUTH VILLAGE, THIMPHU
The youth center is located above the swimming pool with all the modern and essential facilities for our youth. The complex consists of the youth center building, an auditorium, two separate hostels for boys and girls, an indoor swimming pool, and table tennis, volleyball and basketball courts.
